Nis Murat is a Singaporean-born artist and curator whose practice explores and unpacks their experiences with mental health, neurodiversity, and their childhood.

Murat’s work often explores memory, domesticity, heritage, and their personal geographical and emotional displacement. Their artistic practice primarily focuses on perspective, automatic writing, and sonic practices, with an emphasis on introspection and self-reflection. Their process often begins with an idea or concept that consumes them, typically stemming from reflections on their childhood experiences with undiagnosed ADHD. Through their work, they frequently analyze and recount how they navigated the world and developed coping mechanisms.

This self-reflective artistic approach extends into their curatorial work, which is centred around accessibility, inclusivity, and empathy. They apply an introspective and empathetic lens, seeking to understand how a curator can make experiencing art accessible to all.
