Do You Hide Too? focuses on Nis’ experiences with undiagnosed ADHD as a child, as well as its comorbid conditions such as anxiety and body-repetitive disorders.
This piece revolves around a chair they hid under to soothe themself when experiencing sensory overload and anxiety from the ages of 3 to 9 years old. The work looks back into their body-repetitive disorders, namely onychophagia (nail-biting) and excoriation (skin-picking), and their unorthodox coping methods. This also includes getting their milk teeth extracted willingly at an in-school dentist when overwhelmed as a child, and how these behaviours went unnoticed before their diagnosis in 2020.
